Se-ja is a hand-carved wooden board inspired by the Mithun and its symbolic presence across the hills. Crafted from solid wood, the piece features a textured carved surface with intentionally imperfect markings that celebrate the handmade process. The sculpted horn detail and clean silhouette create balance against the raw texture of the board. Finished in a rich scorched black that enhances the natural grain, Se-ja can be used as a serving board, display piece, or statement decor object.

Design

Named after the Somdal word for Mithun, Se-ja draws inspiration from one of the region’s most enduring symbols of strength and identity. The board plays with symmetry and asymmetry, rough textures against smooth finishes, imperfect carvings against balanced form. While the hand-carved surface remains raw and expressive, the horns and side profile hold a striking symmetry that brings the entire piece together. Finished in deep scorched tones, the grain and texture become even more pronounced with light and use.
